What we build

Six lines of work,
one delivery method.

Every division works to the same engineering standards, the same safety rules and the same handover file. A client in Mombasa receives the documentation a client in Chengdu receives.

How a project runs

One contract,
six stages.

The stages below run in order on every project we sign. Each one closes with a document the client signs before the next begins, so responsibility never sits in an unnamed gap.

Stage 01

Feasibility

Survey, geotechnical investigation, route options and cost envelope.

Stage 02

Design

Detailed design by our own institute, checked by an independent reviewer.

Stage 03

Procurement

Long-lead plant, steel and equipment ordered against the fixed design.

Stage 04

Construction

Site works under one project director, with monthly progress certification.

Stage 05

Commissioning

Load testing, trial operation, defect close-out and the full handover file.

Stage 06

Operations

Maintenance and operator training, for a defined period or a concession term.

Where we work

47 countries,
9 regional offices.

Overseas work has been more than half our order book since 2016. Each region is run by a resident director with local hiring and local procurement targets written into the contract.

The company

Forty-seven years
of the same trade.

Hammer Boom began as a provincial bridge bureau with 300 workers and one crane. It is now a listed group with its own design institute, precast yards, marine fleet and tunnelling plant — but it still only does one thing.

1979

Founded in Beijing as the Hammer Boom Bridge Construction Bureau.

1988

First long-span crossing completed over the Han River.

1994

First overseas contract awarded — a highway package in Pakistan.

2001

Design institute established, bringing engineering fully in-house.

2007

Listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange under code 601208.

2013

Marine division formed after acquiring a dredging fleet.

2019

Overseas revenue passes 50% of the group total for the first time.

2025

1,200th project handed over; backlog reaches ¥ 412 bn.

Standards & safety

We publish our
safety record.

Every site runs to a single group safety manual, translated into the working language of the crew. Incidents are reported to head office within 24 hours and audited quarterly by a team that does not report to the project director.

Lost-time injury frequency rate: 0.21 per million hours worked (2025 group average, all sites, self-reported and externally verified).
